FAQ
Heartbeat for Hunger is an annual concert with local bands designed to attract a new generation of philanthropists, create awareness of the issue of hunger in our local community and introduce them to White Bear Area Food Shelf and their efforts to end food insecurity.
The event itself is not a legal entity, and no transactions take place with the event. Sponsors of the event will donate directly to White Bear Area Food Shelf, which is a 501(c)(3) charity.
The entire amount donated is tax deductible, less the value of any tickets received. Some sponsors choose to take the tickets to share with family, staff or customers, and the deductible amount of their donation is reduced slightly. Other sponsors choose to forego comp tickets in order to receive a full tax deduction.
On Saturday, August 1st, we will have an outdoor concert at White Bear Lake County Park featuring some trendy local bands, headlined by Nunnabove. The event will include food trucks, beers and seltzers. All ticket sales revenue goes directly to White Bear Area Food Shelf.
Sponsors for Heartbeat for Hunger leverage their contributions for greater impact. Ticket, beverage, and merchandise sales and attendee donations multiply the impact of a sponsor’s donation. Additionally, this concert will engage a new generation of philanthropists to end food insecurity in our community by raising awareness of the needs of our neighbors.
The inaugural Heartbeat for Hunger concert was held in 2016. The event was formed by members of the committee that formed the Vintner Ball years ago… a very successful wine tasting event that has raised well over two million dollars for local food shelves. The group behind Heartbeat for Hunger wanted to do more, and they set out to create a new and different type of event that would appeal to a younger audience.
